The Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb

The expansion and development of the city of Zagreb in the 19th century emphasized the need for a new theatre house and, after ten years of planning, the decision to build a new national theatre in a large square in the lower part of the city, which was earmarked to become a cultural centre of the city, was made.

The famous Croatian National Theatre in the neo-baroque style was built in 1895. This baroque edifice is surrounded by many buildings of high architectural value that represent the late 19th and early 20th century architecture.

The repertoire of the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb boasts a rich and diverse offer, of both international and national opus.
The schedule for plays, operas and ballet at the National Theatre can be found on the National Theatre website.
